I have regularly asked this of people to which there have been one of two responses. They usually sum up the practitioners approach.

No idea...
Or
An exact, step by step recount...

Knowing full well my memory will likely fail me in the future, I thought it prudent to log if here on Beltchecker.

The first thing was how to roll a person in Turtle to set up a Darce. (A small diversion to show that the Anaconda is also an option).
This lead to showing, what we refer to as, a Reverse-Head-&-Arm choke. (Think arm in Guillotine with their arm across your body).
These were all from questions but next were what I chose to teach... My first loves.
The Bow-&-Arrow choke followed by a variation that I refer to as a Crossbow.

My first technique I executed during a roll was a non-specific stackish pass... More principles than a nameable thing.
After that... My unicorn.
The myth that was... The North/South Choke. This tricky little bitch has illuded me for nearly a decade and I've only just recently had any success. (I was happy dancing on the inside).
Then a Bow-&-Arrow for good measure followed by a Kimura trap set up to Crucifix with a RNC.

And that's it... Session one as a Black Belt documented forever on Beltchecker.

What was yours?

Rolled immediately with one of the best blue belts that asked me if we could go until I could catch him with a straight foot lock on his right hand side with no time limit… took me 8 minutes…

Setting a challenge.
What a cool idea, I like it.

Update. (A few sessions later).
The first thing I was caught with...
My good friend Dodge, actual name Nathan, who was promoted the same day caught me with a treacherously well set up Forearm choke (aka Bread Cutter I believe).

Oh man I wish I had documented it... My first roll was with my first coach, whom had travelled over 4 hours to be there to surprise me :) I believe it was mostly me passing his half guard and trying not to get baseball bat choked.

I went home, celebrated waaay too much, and came back the next day feeling like crap. Got tapped out by our young competition purple belt and took it as just another lesson on the matts.
