Can we please add in the white and black variation of kids belts per IBJJF? ie. Gray/White, Gray/Black, Yellow/White and so on for accurate tracking over their journey? I'm trying to keep track of two kids and my own profile. Thanks in advance.
This does raise an interesting issue. There isn’t consistency among kids ranks the way there is among adult ranks (with the nearly-universal white, blue, purple, brown, black progression). Traditionally, kids (age 15 and under) had white, yellow, orange, and green belts. The IBJJF added a gray belt between white and yellow, and also added white/black stripe variations to all of the colored belts. Not everyone is part of the IBJJF, so many academies still use the old ranks. The Gracie Academy and its affiliates have a unique system that mixes white, yellow, orange, and green belts with multi-colored combinations of these colors as intermediate belts (which still baffles me). I never tried to put my son’s ranks on this site, and now he’s 16, so I’m not sure how Beltchecker handles kids ranks (and I don’t see it listed as a topic in the FAQ). It sounds like we don’t have the IBJJF white/black stripe variations. What do you do if your academy doesn’t use a gray belt or uses the Gracie multicolored system?
