Lineage: Carlos Gracie > Helio Gracie > Carlson Gracie > Andre Pederneiras > Marcelo Pereira > Ricardo Guimaraes > Adam Figurski
In 2010, I attained the esteemed rank of black belt under the guidance of Ricardo Guimaraes, within the framework of the renowned Gracie-Barra affiliation. This pivotal milestone marked the culmination of years of dedication and disciplined training in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
However, the trajectory of my martial arts journey experienced a notable shift shortly thereafter. The influential figure of Royler Gracie initiated a transition of academy affiliation from Gracie Barra to Gracie Humaita, precipitating a significant transformation in my martial arts allegiance.
Despite this transition, Ricardo Guimaraes remained a steadfast fixture in the Temecula area, perpetuating the legacy of Gracie Humaita through his dedicated gym. Nonetheless, my personal journey veered onto a divergent path over a decade ago, leading me to explore and train within various jiu-jitsu establishments, each offering its distinct set of challenges and insights.
Presently, I find myself entrenched within the vibrant jiu-jitsu community of RCAJJ/Fight Sports So Cal in Hemet, California. Here, I not only continue to refine my own skills but also assume the role of an instructor, imparting the wisdom garnered through years of training and experience.
While my competitive endeavors have waned due to the toll of injuries and the demands of a bustling career, my commitment to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu remains resolute. Rather than chasing personal accolades, I have redirected my focus towards cultivating the next generation of BJJ practitioners, fostering within them the values of discipline, resilience, and the enduring spirit of martial arts.
