I've started jiu-jitsu because a friend started and invited me in. He stopped I continued... I've been in a city small bjj team, my professor own team (which didn't lasted much), GFteam (along with my professor) and now I'm part of bjj globetrotters and consider myself independent.
Some choices of my professor made us split ways, but I still respect and owe him a lot.
Finding beltchecker made me regret for not keeping more organized photos from my bjj journey. Backups are a must!
I practiced a little bit of wrestling too with a cuban coach which became a really good friend. I didn't competed more than a handful of times, it didn't motivated me much, even tough I like very much to train hard. Now I do consider preparing and getting into some tournaments. I'm also flirting with the idea to begin studying judo.
I'm actually studying Physical Education with focus on pedagogy in a university where I'm responsible for a bjj extension project for other students and general community too.
I do enjoy to talk about everything related to bjj, sports science, pedagogy, psicology and philosophy. I can speak a little bit of English, Spanish and now I'm learning Deutsch. If everyone wanna talk about bjj, those topics and share histories I'm up to video calls.
Finding bjj globetrotters and this site was amazing! BJJ needs a revolution and those two initiatives contribute a lot to it.

 | Hey Johan. I don't have his signature cause he never issued his own certificates. He himself has a BB certificate of FJJGO which is the same federation that I have and also from another federation from Brasília, if I'm not mistaken. Didn't mentioned his lineage cause we have splinted in pretty bad terms, involving even threats. When I was promoted he was 2nd degree BB. Note that certificate I have was not signed by him. Yet, you have a video on your profile showing you had a friendly roll with him, labeled with a date only four days ago (same day you wrote your last answer here)? That is not a title on the video that Youtube automatically assigns. | Hey Johan, to clarify. I never broke my relation with Maximiliano (Max). The split happened between Max (and hiss side of team, including me and his professor). The video I posted was taken in my class at the extension project Caminhos Marciais FEFD-UFG few weeks ago, Max was living in Amazonas, till this video I did not saw him for more than a year. That certificate is from the bjj federation of my state, it's signed my the federation director and GFteam leader here along with Master Julio Cesar one of GFTeam creators. Maximiliano Alcantara graduated me from white through black belt. Since I was a blue belt he never charged me for classes or belts, but I was with him everyday cleaning the mats, teaching for free in social projects and helping him with classes.

In my brown belt I got 3 stripes, I just remembered I got then from old photos. I never liked social media very much by that time one student of mine created a instagram account for me (I use it till today, lol. I barely feed it).

In the purple belt I maintained my rythm training 2x per day 5 times a week and got my first class which was formed by other lower belts which trained with my professor too.

I did not received any stripe in my blue belt. I got it and a week after I tore my ACL, limped for a good amount of time. Until I got it reconstructed my right knee always poped of leading to a great amount of pain. By my blue belt I was training everyday 2 times a day which summed to 4 to 5 hours a daily, rested on saturdays and sundays where my professor and mates used to run on unpaved roads nearby my city.

My first professor was Sebastião Carlos which was at that time a purple belt, he also was a professor at ESEFFEGO (Escola Superior de Educação Física e Fisioterapia de Goiás), which is a state university. I trained with him for 5 or 6 months until he stoped teaching to focus on his doctorate studies which if I'm not mistaken was in sociology. He was also a bodybuilder and crazy strong. Then Sebastião introduced me to Maximiliano Alcantara Pereira which awarded 3 stripes on my white belt and graduate me from white to black belt. That time I started training on a daily basis from monday to saturday 2 hours a day.
